Food Production increased a lot while Agricultural Land remains the same

The graph below shows growth in Cereal production, along with the increase in Cereal produced per square hectare (Yield) since 1961. Even with the growth in population, food production increased all the while keeping land use almost the same as it was in 1961.

Cereals include barley, buckwheat, canary seed, fonio, maize (corn), millet, mixed grain, oats, quinoa, rice, rye, sorghum, triticale and wheat.

Crops that feed the majority of humanity are wheat, rice, maize, soybean, oil palm, potato and cassava. Nearly all crops have seen a similar increase in yields.
